इंग्लैंड क्रिकेट टीम के पूर्व कप्तान एलिस्टर कुक ने सोमवार को इंटरनेशनल क्रिकेट से संन्यास की घोषणा कर दी. भारत के खिलाफ खेली जा रही टेस्ट सीरीज का पांचवा मैच कुक का आखिरी मैच होगा. कुक इंग्लैंड के टेस्ट क्रिकेट के सबसे सफल बल्लेबाजों में से एक हैं. टेस्ट क्रिकेट में कुक ने कई उपलब्धियां हासिल की.
टेस्ट में 12 हज़ार से अधिक रन बनाने वाले कुक ने रिटायरमेंट की घोषणा पर कहा ”मैंने वो सबकुछ हासिल किया जिसकी कभी कल्पना भी नहीं की थी. इतने लंबे समय तक खेलने के लिए खुद को काफी भाग्यशाली महसूस कर रहा हूं.”
