दो साल बाद धमाकेदार वापसी करने वाली चेन्नई सुपर किंग्स ने फाइनल मुकाबले में सनराइजर्स ह्यदेरबाद को आठ विकेट से हराकर आईपीएल – 11 का ख़िताब अपने नाम कर लिया. मुंबई के वानखेड़े स्टेडियम में खेले गए इस मैच चेन्नई के लिए इस जीत के हीरो रहे शेन वाट्सन जिन्होंने 57 गेंदों पर 117 रनों की जबरदस्त पारी खेल कर टीम को जीत दिला दी.
चेन्नई ने इस पूरे आईपीएल सीजन में शानदार प्रदर्शन किया है. 14 मैचों में 9 मैच जीत कर टीम ने प्ले ऑफ़ में जगह बनायी थी. पहले ही क्वालीफायर में सनराइजर्स हैदराबाद को हराकर फाइनल में प्रवेश कर लिया था. जबकि फाइनल में मिली चेन्नई को जीत इसकी लगातार पांचवी जीत है.
